CASA President’s Special Message
To All CASA Members
Across Canada and across the entire world we are faced with the challenge of our generation. The impact of Covid-19 is changing daily, even hourly at the outset. CASA’s concern for the health of our members is paramount as is our concern for the industry of life safety. Please check regularly the CASA website under the “MEDIA” section https://www.casa-firesprinkler.org/media/ and follow our CASA social media feed https://twitter.com/CASAFS to receive the most current available information. Our Regional Managers will continue to remain connected with our members and our industry partners across the country and will share any new information as it becomes available.
As we face challenges for construction in general, so do most business plans and labour management issues for fire sprinkler contractors. Your CASA Board of Directors continue to meet through the year and have given staff direction on a number of key issues. While CASA field staff are currently working remotely and we have limited office staff, we’ve also restricted all visitors at this time based on the recommendations from health professionals. That being said, we continue to respond and assist members through this unprecedented time and conduct CASA business through electronic means.
Based on all the latest information the CASA Board have made the decision to hold the 2021 CASA AGM and Conference on May 31, to June 1, in a virtual format. Shortly, exciting guest speakers with various unique and special events, along with sponsorship opportunities will all be made available.
While we follow government direction on our restricted interaction, CASA will continue to communicate with our members and industry partners on a regular basis to continue to represent and serve the Canadian Fire Sprinkler Industry. CASA has joined with other associations and directly written to various levels of government for direction and assistance, both with regulations and financial assistance for our industry. We will be keeping members informed as we receive responses from all levels of government on issues relevant to the Sprinkler industry.
While our trade is currently deemed an essential service in most Provinces, CASA is maintaining contact with our industry partners both public and private to completely implement a professional and orderly resumption of full business activities once authorities recommend that it is safe to do so.
So much of what we have accomplished as an industry over the last few decades has been as a result of our spirit of co-operation and unity of purpose and focus. As previous generations came through global conflicts and emergencies, we too must remain united and care about each other and our commitment to life safety.
Stay safe and healthy,
John Galt CAE
